Dr. Makshoof Athar obtained his Master Degree from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and then joined Islamia University Bahawalpur in Feb-1984. He obtained M.Phil degree from University of the Punjab Lahore in 1987 and Ph.D. Degree from Islamia University of Bahawalpur in 1996. He also served as PSO in Center for Environmental Protection Studies PCSIR Laboratories Lahore during 2000-2001. He was awarded post doctoral fellowship at Ryerson University, Toronto by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the year 2009-2010. He joined Institute of Chemistry in May 2005. He holds more than 60 research papers to his credit in national and international journals. His field of interest is applied / analytical chemistry especially associated with the Environmental issues. He is also interested in the development of low cost chromatographic and spectroscopic methods of analysis and polymer chemistry.

Dr. Zaid Mahmood (Professor)

Dr. Zaid Mahmood obtained his M.Sc. from the University of the Punjab and joined the Institute in 1984 as Research Officer. He obtained his PhD. in Analytical/Inorganic Chemistry from University of Leicester, England, UK. He was selected as Lecturer in 1987, Assistant professor in 1997, Associate Professor of Analytical and General Chemistry in 2001 and now he is professor of Analytical and General Chemistry from 2003. He is working as Professor on TTS awarded by HEC on his academics and excellence in research. He has published about 60 research papers in Journals of international repute. Major areas of his research are synthesis, reactivity and Laser spectroscopic studies of organometallic and inorganic molecules. He is also working as M.Phil and Ph.D Co-ordinator.

Dr. Munawar Ali Munawar (Professor)

Dr. Munawar obtained his master degree in chemistry with distinction from The Islamia University, Bahawalpur and joined the same as lecturer in 1983. He obtained M. Phil degree from Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab in 1987. He earned his Ph.D. degree from University of Wales UK in 1996. In his present position, he joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab in 2002. To his credit he holds more than 90 publications including one patent. He was awarded post doctoral fellowship at University of Florida (USA) by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the year 2008-2009 where he works Benzotriazole mediated synthesis of amino acid conjugates of bioactive compounds. His research interests include the synthesis of dyes and heterocyclic compounds of biological and industrial importance, conversion of polymer waste and agro waste into value added products. Microwave assisted reactions and synthetic aromatic electrophilic substitution reactions. His administrative responsibilities including; controller of examinations, coordinator BS (4 years) & M.Sc. Programme and time table incharge of the Institute.

Dr. Abdul Qadir obtained his master and doctorate degrees from the Institute of Chemistry during the year 1987 and 1994, respectively. He joined the Institute in 1996 and presently serving as Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry. He has published about 39 research papers in foreign and local research journals. His major research interest is in the field of environmental Analytical Chemistry, Agriculture and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Dr. Ejaz Ahmad (Assistant Professor)

He was the former Manager Publications in Bentham Science Publishers Ltd. and Journal of Chemical Society of Pakistan. In Dec. 2007 he joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. He has published over 55 research articles in leading international journals. His current interests include isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive natural products from marine and terrestrial medicinal plants, employing bioassay-directed isolation strategies, new leads as potential medicinal agents and botanical pesticides, search for new enzyme inhibitors and antioxidants, natural product biosynthesis, biotransformation, microwave assisted synthesis and organometallic chemistry.

Dr. Farooq completed his PhD in 2011 and joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab on October 12, 2011 as Assistant Professor under IPFP program of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Zaib Hussain (Assistant Professor)

Prof. Dr. Zaib Hussain graduated from the University of Glasgow (UK) with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry and completed her Ph.D. research degree from Brunel University, UK in 1999. During her final year of Ph.D, she was also appointed as Post doctorate fellow by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK). She was appointed as Lecturer/Buisness Development Co-ordination at Brunel University in 1999. She then became Executive Director of a major Finance Company in Canada in 2003. She Joined LCWU in Sep 2006 PUIC in April 2009 as Foreign Faculty Professor under the HEC-FFHP. She has supervised over 100 post graduate students both Nationally and Internationally and has more than 50 publications to her credit and author of 1 book. Her research interests include Transfrontier Shipment of hazardous wastes in the context of the Basel Convention, metal recycle/recovery using novel electrolytic methods and exposure to pesticides and its link to Neurological Diseases.

Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Nagra obtained his M.Sc in chemistry from Quaid-e-Azam University in 1974 and Ph.D in Nutrition from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 1979. As Post Doctorate fellow, he worked at Federal Research Centre for Nutrition in Germany. He holds more than 100 research papers to his credit, published in national and international journals. He has contributed chapters in Allama Iqbal Open University, Urdu Science Board and Wiley Interscience publications. He is Fellow of Pakistan Academy of Medical Sciences and Chemical Society of Pakistan. HEC awarded him Best Teacher award in 2004. He served as Director Institute of Chemistry from 2008 to February 2011. His field of interest is biomedical research, nutritional surveillance, trace elements in health and disease, and infant nutrition.
