Dr. Munawar obtained his master degree in chemistry with distinction from The Islamia University, Bahawalpur and joined the same as lecturer in 1983. He obtained M. Phil degree fromInstitute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab in 1987. He earned his Ph.D. degree from University of Wales UK in 1996. In his present position, he joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab in 2002. To his credit he holds more than 90 publications including one patent. He was awarded post doctoral fellowship at University of Florida (USA) by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the year 2008-2009 where he works Benzotriazole mediated synthesis of amino acid conjugates of bioactive compounds. His research interests include the synthesis of dyes and heterocyclic compounds of biological and industrial importance, conversion of polymer waste and agro waste into value added products. Microwave assisted reactions and synthetic aromatic electrophilic substitution reactions. His administrative responsibilities including; controller of examinations, coordinator BS (4 years) & M.Sc. Programme and time table incharge of the Institute.

Dr. Farah Kanwal obtained her Master degree in Chemistry from Punjab University in 1989. She earned her Ph.D. from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK in 1995. She joined Govt. College University in 2000. She joined the Institute of Chemistry in 2004 as an Assistant Professor and presently serving as Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry. She has published number of research paper in the Journals of international repute. Major areas of her research interests are polymer synthesis, polymer blending (physically & chemically), conducting polymers, polymer degradation. She is deputy student’s advisor.

Dr. Tariq Mahmud (Professor)

Dr. Tariq Mahmud did his M.Sc. in 1982, M. Phil. in 1987 and Ph.D. in 2007 from the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He did his Post Doc. from the School of Chemistry, The University of Manchester, UK, in 2010. He has served as lecturer at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Govt. Islamia College Civil Lines, Lahore. He joined this Institute in 1990. Presently, he is working as an Assistant Professor of Inorganic chemistry. The University of the Punjab awarded him best teacher award for the year 2002. He is also deputy student’s advisor of the Institute. His area of specialization is organometallic compounds/coordination Chemistry.
Dr. Ejaz Ahmad (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Ejaz Ahmed did his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Islamia University Bahawalpur and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. He was the former Manager Publications in Bentham Science Publishers Ltd. and Journal of Chemical Society of Pakistan. In Dec. 2007 he joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. He has published over 55 research articles in leading international journals. His current interests include isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive natural products from marine and terrestrial medicinal plants, employing bioassay-directed isolation strategies, new leads as potential medicinal agents and botanical pesticides, search for new enzyme inhibitors and antioxidants, natural product biosynthesis, biotransformation, microwave assisted synthesis and organometallic chemistry.

Dr. Ahsan Sharif obtained his M.Sc. degree with specialization in Organic Chemistry in 2001, from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. He did Ph.D. from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry. During his Ph.D. he spent two years in Cambridge University UK, where he did the research works in the field of supramolecular Chemistry. He joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of Punjab in 2007.Ahsan Sharif Published about 12 research papers in international Journals and attended several international and national conferences / symposia both at home and abroad.

Dr. Sadia Ata obtained her master degree in chemistry with distinction from Punjab University in 1999. She joined the Institute as lecturer in 2001. She was awarded her M.Phil degree from UET in 2007. She earned her Ph.D from UKM, Malaysia in 2009. She has published 11 research papers in the International repute journals. She has presented participated in many international conferences. Major areas of her interest are water quality, environmental issues, Disinfection by products, haloacetic acid, trihalomethane and so on, Modeling (predictive and time series) and Metals studies in different matrices.

Prof. Dr. Zaib Hussain graduated from the University of Glasgow (UK) with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry and completed her Ph.D. research degree from Brunel University, UK in 1999. During her final year of Ph.D, she was also appointed as Post doctorate fellow by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK). She was appointed as Lecturer/Buisness Development Co-ordination at Brunel University in 1999. She then became Executive Director of a major Finance Company in Canada in 2003. She Joined LCWU in Sep 2006 PUIC in April 2009 as Foreign Faculty Professor under the HEC-FFHP. She has supervised over 100 post graduate students both Nationally and Internationally and has more than 50 publications to her credit and author of 1 book. Her research interests include Transfrontier Shipment of hazardous wastes in the context of the Basel Convention, metal recycle/recovery using novel electrolytic methods and exposure to pesticides and its link to Neurological Diseases.

Dr. Muhammad Salman got his M.Sc. and M.Phil in
Applied Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab in
2006 and 2011, respectively. He had completed his Ph.D in December 2015. He
worked as Student Demonstrator and Scientific Officer in 2006-07 in the
Institute of Chemistry. He joined the Institute of Chemistry as Lecturer in
November, 2007. Now he is working as Assistant Professor in the same institute
since October 2014. His field of interest is Applied Chemistry especially
associated with environmental issues and production of chemicals. He has
published 57 research articles including a book chapter in the field of Applied
Chemistry.

Dr. M. Asim Raza Basra (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Muhammad Asim Raza Basra received his bachelor degree in Bachelor of Science Education from Government College of Education for Science, Township Lahore in 2002 and his Mater in Chemistry from Institute of Chemistry, university of the Punjab, Lahore in 2006. He served institute of Chemistry as student demonstrator in Applied Lab for one year (2005-2006). In 2006, he won Cultural Scholarship announced by Ministry of Education for PhD and joined department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine, Xi’an Jiaotong University, China in September 2006 as PhD Scholar and he completed his PhD degree in 2010 under the supervision of great scientist Prof Lu Shemin. During his PhD, he did research work on allergic asthma by using animal model and published five research articles in international journals. He joined University of Health Sciences on IPFP in 2011 and engaged in teaching and research on herbal plant. He served Genetic Diseases Research lab, Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of Health Sciences, Lhr as Assistant Professor from July 2012-August 2014 and worked on Genetic diseases including Intellectual disability (ID) and Stuttering and Specific Language Impairment (SLI). Dr Asim joined Institute of chemistry in August 2014 as Assistant Professor. Presently he is working on genetic diseases such as Specific Language Disorders, Autism, identification of active compound from herbal Plants used for Cancer, HCV, allergic diseases, Rheumatoid arthritis and obesity, fungus and bacteria, as well as Silver Nanoparticles with collaboration with UVAS, Centre of excellence in Molecular Biology, Department of pharmaceutical Chemistry, Xian Jiaotong University China, and Department of Pharmacology, University of Health Sciences, Lhr. He has participated national and international conferences and seminars.

She had joined the Institute of Chemistry as Lecturer in 2009, after obtaining her master degree in chemistry from the same institute in 2006. She has worked as student Demonstrator and Scientific Officer in this Institute for the period of 2006-7. She had worked as a lecturer in Punjab Group of Colleges, Lahore for 2-years before joining this Institute as lecturer. Now she is working as Assistant Professor since January 2016, after completing her Ph.D from same institute. She holds 3 books and more than 80 research papers to her credit, published in journals of national and international repute. Her field of interest is inorganic chemistry, especially associated with the development of new analytical procedures regarding various environmental issues, wastewater treatment and applied aspects of various scientific methodologies.
